The Department of MCA has two state of the art labs having many computers where the students

can practice programming skills.

Laboratories :

LABORATORY – 1

• Number of machine –11 (Eleven)

Machine details :

• Five numbers of P- III with following specifications :
  700 MHz CPU/64 MB SD RAM/10 GB HDD/1.44 MB FDD/Intel 810 chipset mother board, 14” SVGA Digital colour monitor ,52XCD ROM Drive.

• Six numbers of PC (286)

LABORATORY – 2

• Number of machine – 13 (Thirteen)

 Machine details :

• One NT Server with following specification :
  P – III , 700 MHz CPU/810 E Intel chipset motherboard/128 MB SD RAM /4GB HDD/ 1.44 FDD/ 17 “ colour monitor/24XCD ROM

• One Linux Server with following configuration :
  Pentium 166 MHz /16 MB RAM/4GB HDD/1.44FDD/14 “ SVGA colour monotor/24XCD ROM

• Four Workstations with configuration as :
  Pentium 166 MHz /16 MB RAM/4GB HDD/1.44FDD/17 “ SVGA colour monotor/24XCD ROM

• Seven Nodes with following configuration :
  Pentium 166 MHz /16 MB RAM/4GB HDD/1.44FDD/14 “ SVGA colour monotor
  There is a LAN connection with Seven nodes and four workstations with both the servers.
  (b) Internate facility is expected to be installed by September. 2001
  (e) Software available:
  (1) Windows NT(Server) 5 users licence
  (2) Oracle 8i
  (3) Visual Studio Enterprise
  (4) Linux
  (5) Compilers on C++, C, Pascal, COBOL
  (6) JDK 1.2.3
  (c) Class rooms: There are three class rooms with seating capacity 30 each.
  (d) Annual intake: It was 20 but increased to 30 from this year.
  (h) Library facility: There is a departmental library, consisting of 150 valuable books on different fields of computer science in addition to the main library of the college.

• Difficulties:
  • The department has been facing with the problem of shortage of teaching staff.
  • 2(Two) posts of lecturer and 1(one) post of professor has been lying vacant for the last 8 years.
  • More computing power is required for adequate laboratory facility.
  • Grants in terms of project, funds are needed to upgrade / modernize the laboratory facilities.
