Industrial and Production Engineering (IPE) department was established to develop much needed professionals required for the growth of modern industries. The focus of undergraduate program in IPE is on manufacturing and quality, process design and productivity improvement, dynamics and control, management and host of core subjects to meet the emerging technological needs of the industry. The curriculum is continually reviewed to be in line with the changing trends in the field. The experienced and dedicated faculty make a continuous and conscious effort to bridge the gap between the industries and the department by personalizing learning and teaching with the implementation of several active learning techniques, open ended experiments, mini and capstone projects. The learning is continually evaluated through rubric based assessment. Education in IPE is very much leaned to practical situations and it is not possible to acquire proper knowledge in this field without sufficient exposure to industrial environment. The relationship of the department with the industries is strengthened through their involvement in curriculum development and various programs such as seminars, visits and student projects. The department also offers post graduate program in 'Production management' which blends advanced theory and practices required for the development and management of modern industry. The research efforts of faculty in the field have led to the recognisation of department as a research center by the University. The department is rich in resources, including library and laboratories, necessary for the development and nourishment of skills necessary for an engineer working in industrial scenarios. The department earnestly emphasize on a healthy and intimate teacher- student relationship so that the true potential of each student is realized and flourished. The students are encouraged to develop themselves through various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The department of IPE aims not only to produce efficient engineers, but also well educated conscientious leaders who can contribute to the development of the country through ameliorating our industries.
